Unity March
Yesterday we joined our friends from Every Home for Christ in an island wide "Unity March" from the Public Library to the Spanish Wall. Groups from all different churches in Pohnpei gathered together under the banner of unity; Catholics, Protestants, Assemblies of God, Salvation Army, Every Home for Christ. Each group had their own banner and sang songs in Pohnpeian and English as they marched. The culmination of the "Unity March" was a meeting at the Spanish Wall where there was prayer, Bible reading, songs and skits. We felt encouraged to take part in this event.

Jesus said in John 17:21, "That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that you sent me." (NKJV) There is a natural tendency here on this island, and even worldwide for divisions in the Body of Christ. This has led to competitions between churches and jealousies in Pohnpei. I think that a "Unity March" is a step in the right direction to see the walls of division and denominational pride fall down, so that the message of Christ will actually be credible in the eyes of the world. What would happen if churches preferred others before themselves, prayed for one another and worked together? One thing is for sure, the Kingdom of God would be furthered instead of "little kingdoms" trying to be established, and the Enemy would have one less open door in the lives of the precious Christ-followers of Pohnpei.
