UNITED STATES 2008 - FacePlant Skate Tour - Glenhaven

GLENHAVEN SKATEPARK ***
On July 11, 2008, Josh, Kyle, Victor, Jonas and I cruised over to Glenhaven Skate Park in Portland, Oregon. We heard some scary story about a skater getting jumped by some mean guys and getting hurt really bad. We just prayed for the Holy Spirit to protect us and went anyway. It turns out to be a pretty nice skatepark, though a little on the small side. Most of the park is a giant street course with a bank leading to a five stair, some boxes, hubbas, rails and steep ol' trannies...a little too steep unless you like that sort of thing (you know, slipping out and getting hurt, rolled ankles and such). There are a couple of smaller bowls and a school with a couple of waxed ledges. The guys had fun. We put together a nice little video. Overall, I give the park a 3 star rating.

UNITED STATES 2008 - Loose Change for Change

LOOSE CHANGE FOR CHANGE.
Over the past couple of weeks we have been having a bit of a contest at FacePlant SkateChurch. In fact, Whipple Creek Church has been having a bit of a contest between many of the different ministries. The contest is to see which ministry can fill a big (empty) water jug with the most change (quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies). All change that is put into these jugs goes to planting churches here and around the world. So at SkateChurch, we had a contest to see who could bring in the most change. The first week our first place winner was Cho Nas Chung, who brought in almost $44.00 in change and won a complete Almost skateboard. Our second place winner was Phil O'Harris, who brought in around $43.00 in change and won a custom painted skate helmet that Tyler Peebles painted at the body shop where he works. Third place went to Kyle Ponciano, who brought in nearly $29.00 in change and won a set of Spitfire wheels. We also had a little contest yesterday where Cody Bell won first place bringing in close to $14.00 in change winning a FacePlant sweatshirt. Chris Perez won second place brining in around $5.00 in change winning a FacePlant beanie. And Victor Marquay won third place bringing in about $4.00 in change, also winning a FacePlant beanie. Many other people brought in change as well and got stickers for prizes. It's been a fun way to help spread the gospel worldwide. I am sure over the last couple of weeks that FacePlant Ministries has brought in over $150.00 in loose change! Great stuff guys!

CHANGED LIVES AT SKATE CHURCH.
Speaking of change, we have seen more changed lives at FacePlant SkateChurch over the past month. I know of at least one young person who, for the first time has given their life to Chirst. We have also had another 7 or 8 young people pray with FacePlant staff members for help in their walk with God, rededicating their life to Him. That makes 52 first time decisions to receive Christ since the beginning of the year and 215 since FacePlant Ministries first began. Thanks God for this outreach to the skateboarding community here in Hazel Dell.

UNITED STATES 2008 - Team FacePlant Newberg VIDEO

UNITED STATES 2008 - FacePlant Skate Tour - Newberg

NEWBERG SKATE PARK ***
On June 21, 2008, a group of us from Team FacePlant headed to Newberg Skate Park. Aiden Franklin, of friend of ours who has been coming out to SkateChurch drove us there in his band's (Dear Whoever) 15 passenger van. Aiden was sponsored by Black Label when he was younger and has skated Newberg Skate Park a lot. If you like a lot of vert, then you will love Newberg Skate Park. It has a lot of bowls and transfers will great flow. The guys had a blast just pumping to get speed in the bowls and then launnching over transfers and out of the bowls. Not much street stuff to skate, which is cool cause it pushes our guys to work more on their vert skating. They do have a dragon rail and a volcano with a rotating top. Fun stuff. Overall, I give the park a 3 star rating. If they had some more street skating obstacles, it would be near a 5 star rating.
