Pohnpei: Island of Light
Yesterday evening we took a drive down the causeway to try and catch a view of the sun setting near Lidakika Beach. Let's just say, that it was one of the most gorgeous sunsets we have ever seen in our lives. When we arrived the sun had just started going down behind Sokehs Rock. There were clouds around the sun as well and at one point, the sun was shining through the clouds creating a light too bright to look at with the naked eye, yet we caught it on my mobile phone camera. Then we watched as the coloration of the clouds and the sky changed before our very eyes with beautiful hues of yellow, orange, pink and purple. It was a sign and a wonder to behold. It made us think about passages such as Psalm 113:3, "From the rising of the sun to it's going down, Jehovah's name is to be praised," as well as Daniel 6:27, "He works signs and wonders in the heavens and in the earth." We believed that God had painted that beautiful sunset just for us to enjoy. We glorified YHWH for His amazing workmanship and believed it was a sign to us of how He is shining His glorious light here on the island of Pohnpei.

Pohnpei: Island of Darkness
This afternoon we opened our front door to find a curious thing. There on our front porch we saw a large yellow breadfruit leaf with fresh blood of some sort on it with the blood also poured out on our front porch. I immediately believed it to be a black magic curse placed upon us and checked around the rest of the house to see if there was a blood trail leading away, which could mean that one of our dogs had dragged something near our house, yet there was no trace of blood anywhere else accept on our front door step. I had heard that the "winani" or witch doctors would use these yellow leaves in their black magic rituals and curses. This came after a series of openly demonic attacks over the past few days. Three nights ago we were in my room falling asleep to a movie as we often do when I saw a shadowy figure pass by my bedroom door. I didn't do anything about it and dismissed it as my eyes playing tricks on me. When it happened a second time it startled me and I immediately went through the entire house turning on all of the lights in case someone had come into our house. I also had that all-too-familiar feeling of an evil presence being around. After I found that no one was in the house, I prayed and pleaded the blood of Jesus over our house and our lives. That same night our missionary friend saw the same figure pass in front of her window. She also prayed. Our other friends in Kolonia also had a demonic experience at their house at 3am that night involving a dog that was growling demonically outside of their window. The next night at 3am, I was struck with a scary and almost unbearable pain in my chest. We nearly headed to the emergency room right then, but waited until the next morning to go. I had an EKG test and blood work done at the hospital but the results were that everything was normal. Then at 3am last night, our missionary friend had a dream about a large demon in our living room and other demons perched all around our house. Fortunately, we had spent the night at our neighbor's house last night. Yet these events all led up to what we found on our front door step this afternoon. I immediately called my friend from EHC when we saw it. He came and prayed with me, breaking all curses and black magic.

These sorts of attacks aren't new to us. We are in the middle of a huge spiritual battle. We are opening the first ever House of Prayer in Pohnpei, which we believe to be key in seeing revival take place in the Pacific islands. We are also gearing up for the Level 2 Harvest School of Missions that will be hosted by Iris Micronesia here in Pohnpei; a missionary training school that will equip and send communities of laid-down Jesus-lovers into the darkest places of the world and to the remaining unreached people groups from here in Pohnpei, which is nearly the furthest place in the earth geographically from Jerusalem. So we believe that we have really hit a nerve with the enemy who is retaliating. Silly devil. Doesn't he know that Jesus has already won the ultimate victory at the cross? Satan is just scared and grasping for straws on his way down to hell which is his final destination. Although the island of Pohnpei is filled with darkness from the days of old when human sacrifices took place until now as demonic forces continue to ravage this place through black magic and witchcraft, the light of God is breaking through. And wherever the light shines brightly, darkness must flee. We know that someday Pohnpei, as well as all the islands of Micronesia and the Pacific will only be filled with Jesus' glorious light and every demonic force must bow it's knee to Him. Please join us in prayer as we usher in God's Kingdom here in Pohnpei, in the Pacific islands and in the ends of the earth!
